Over time, the Ojere road leading to the school has been a thorn in the flesh of students and the polytechnic community. For years, whimpers, reports, complaints, protests have been ushered towards seeing that the road gets the much needed repair it needs to ensure that lives that live through the road are preserved against the hovering dangers therein.
Passing through the road last week, one would come to beam a smile that at least, something was being done to revitalize the road in a bid to safeguard students and stakeholders alike who ply the road on a regular basis.
A probe into the engendering of the caterpillars working on the road informed us that this came on the efforts of the new Students Union Government led by Babatunde Ganiu Adeola a.k.a “Babs’ in conjunction with the management of the polytechnic.
The synergy which brought about this development is one very encouraging taking into account the scores of changes the school needs to follow suit. The fact that the new administration of the SUG who is barely two-month-old in office has a substantial project underway is a positive to laud and trumpet, if not for anything, for encouragement in the goal to have more and better.
Also, the school management playing ball with the new executive sharply reminds one of its promises during the inauguration of the new executive to give the administration relevant support to seeing the lots of the students populace bettered for the good of the polytechnic. Plainly, if we are to ever going to have lots bettered in terms of studentship on the platform of the SUG, then willy-nilly, the management of the polytechnic and the alliance being seen with the SUG is expedient.
That said, there is one quarter that is found missing to bring equilibrium to the equation: the government. This is such a decisive quarter whose weight cannot be discountenance in terms of influence to amplifying efforts already on ground. In Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, and in the light of the alliance in greens, the government coming to complement efforts will go a long way to having an exponential rise in terms of the productivity of whatever synergy is in place to the exclusion of it.
What can be seen on the road are sands which are quite fundamental to any road repair. But the downside to all this is that these sands can be effaced with just a 15-minute downpour, making rubbish of efforts and resources expended to have it up to that extent. In other words, if the groundwork which has started is to yield substantial results as required, then the road need go beyond the accustomed sand-filling and grading, and geared into it being tarred for solidity and sustainability. And on this backdrop does the government come in as a father to ensure it complements the efforts of his sons to seeing that arguably the best polytechnic in the state has a good road network to its campus, with no seer needed to tell one of what is bound to happen wherever there is good road.
