‘Alas, we have resumed finally’, the words that fill the mouth of every Moshood Abiola Polytechnic students. The most anticipated announcement has been made and it is time to make all necessary preparations to commence the 2018/19 first semester.
As against previous resumptions, the first and second weeks are always regarded to be the ‘introduction week’; were all activities are fairly visible. Students arrived back on campus and are expected to get obsessed with classes, courses and course lecturers while respective departmental heads draft time schedule for lectures.
In a nutshell, barely any activities take place during these periods as in the past.
The institution had since last year November had reason to extend the calendar due to uncontrollable reasons and this in turn extended all academic activities by weeks and even months.
At the beacon of hope, putting aside the lingering crisis, the management as well as union bodies of the institution announced the commencement of the new session- June 6,2109.
To this end, Press Club Mapoly urge all students to immediately resume back for the commencement of lectures and all other activities. The reasons are hinged on the fact that the management might push for a quick semester so as to meet up with the calendar and possibly end the session at the end of the year to commence another session by 2020.
Thus, first and second week of resumptions might not appear like other session and academic activities would begin immediately provided student populace are forthcoming.
Note that all union had confirmed to PCM on the readiness to commence the semester and would be expecting the resumption of students in various level.
Therefore, there is need for students to resume early and all things being equal the semester cum session finishes at a favourable and expected time.
All stakeholders are urged to be pivotal in forestalling normalcy to the once embattled institution and as well elate it to the alluring citadel of learning status, a roaring lion to be heard far and wide the world.
