MAPOLY radio to go on air soon – Rector

Some graduates of Mass communication department from Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, (MAPOLY), Abeokuta on Thursday gave back to their alma mater after 21 years of graduation.
The alumni presented 32 ceiling fans which are to be fixed in each of the lecture rooms in the department.
The alumni who graduated in 1995 while the institution was referred to as Ogun State Polytechnic made their first donation to the department.
The Pastor Femi Adefowokan-led ‘AMACOS 95 SET’ consisting of 150 members and were represented by nine of them were welcomed by the Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Kolawole Amos who was flanked by the newly elected Director of the School of Communication and Information Technology (SCIT), Dr ‘Goke Raufu.
Adefowokan said the gesture was in a bid to partner with the department so as to impact on current students on the need to bring industrialisation to the system.
The HOD, Amos appreciated the alumni for coming back to the school that made them. He also thanked them for coming at a time when the education sector is in need of support.
“We thank you all for coming back to the school that taught you, you have come at a time when the education sector is in need of support.
“We are using this medium to appeal to the government to comply with the UNESCO recommendation that education sector should be given a large percentage of the annual budget.” Amos said.
Amos also led the former students to the office of the Rector, Professor Oludele Itiola.
Itiola thanked the alumni for remembering their alma mater.
“We really appreciate you all for coming and also for donating to the school, we are putting the school on another pedestrian.
“The 1000-seater hall we built at Mass communication department was generated through our IGR, we are facing financial challenges and also human challenges.
“We want the school to be the best in Nigeria and we are trying all our possible best to transform it into a University, we will get MAPOLY radio on air soon and we are also trying our best to build more classrooms in the school,” Itiola said.
