Students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic who are indigenes of Ogun State on Friday expressed excitement over their reception of the bursary award payment released by the Ogun State government.

It will be recalled that the government yesterday announced the release of the bursary award payment to tertiary institution students who are indigenes of the state.

Speaking to Press Club MAPOLY, a beneficiary of the payment, Badejo Bashiru, HND2 Business Administration, said that he was so excited receiving a credit alert of N10,000 on his phone.

He added that he wasn’t expecting it after efforts to get the payment over the years had proved futile.

"I saw a credit alert of N10,000 this evening. I was so excited.

"Since we submitted our details since last year and it did not yield anything then this comes as a surprise," Bashiru said.

Another student, Adeniran Omodele, HND2 Mass Communication, stated that she was so elated getting the payment, adding that it came as a surprise.

Her words, "I’m elated, joyous and delighted. In one word: I’m extremely happy.

"Sincerely, I wasn’t expecting it because I didn’t meet up with the deadline that was given for the submission of the details to the gmail account that was given to us. Because I was scared of disclosing my BVN to anyone, and the instruction said we should send our account number, BVN and the like. So I was scared. But I’m glad I got the money though."

In his reaction, the President, National Association of Ogun State Students, MAPOLY Chapter, Musari Waliu stated that he feels happy over the release of the payment to students in MAPOLY, noting that he and other MAPOLY students have been looking forward to benefit from the opportunity.

He said, "I feel so happy because all Ogun State students in MAPOLY including me have been looking forward to benefit from the opportunity.

"As a president, I have been informed that the bursary is going to be released today. So when people started jubilating when they received their alerts, it didn’t catch me unaware because I have been informed."

He appreciated the Ogun state government for the benefits, adding that they look forward to a continual next session.

"We, Ogun state students in MAPOLY really appreciate Ogun State government for this fantastic benefit. Especially this time that students are looking for school fees.

"At the same time, we are still looking forward to this kind of benefit next session."
