The president of the Department of the Association of Mass Communication, Akerede Alimot has revealed that the N150 added to the AMACOS portal is a bank charge for payment of identity card.
The president disclosed this during an interview with one of our correspondents on the departmental identity card.

She stated that every student needed an identity card including the final year students because this would serve as means of identification during and after their course of study on campus.
She however explained that the reason behind the use of AMACOS account for the payment is because of the cashless policy and in order to avoid the loss of receipts.
Her words: “AMACOS is like a bridge between the production of the ID card and the supply to the students”.
“In every society, you should always have a means of identification, as a student of communication you cannot conduct interviews without any means of identification.
”It is not the association project, it is the department project which we must
give HOD and other staff the feedback of the turnout of students.
”It is abusive and a disgrace for mass communication students for not having any means of identification and this has been our first project since we resumed the office to resolve the issues.
“The question is even during or after your final year how do you want to identify yourself as a student of this department or this school. What attached you to this school aside from your exam pass and school receipt which you can’t walk out with?
She said that the only thing that can identify the students in thier territory is their ID card and most of the students from every other school has an identity card.
”Some students were arrested some days ago the police told them to show their ID cards to show if they are bonafide students of the school and department because they claimed they are students of mass communication but unfortunately no means of identification to prove they are ND II students of this department.
”I have to go to the AMACOS website to check their portal and print out their information with the school receipt and take it to the station to prove they are a student.
”I don’t think students should complain because every level should have an ID card because once you graduate to another level you are expected to have changed your means of Identity.
”The reason for not picking a specific date for the collection of ID cards is that we want the collection to be in bulk.
”We are sending details every three weeks to the producer in other to produce large quantity which the ID card it is coming with a tag and the rope.
”If the students have the ID card with them at that point that the police want to arrest them they wouldn’t have followed them to the station.
”The NIN we have is a paper you can carry around always, you can’t carry your PVC with you always but this ID card still covers you as a bonafide student of this Institution.
”The student Union government is also planning to have an ID card for all students to show them they are a student of this school. If you don’t have it and something happened to you and it is impossible for them to stand for you because you don’t identify yourself as one of them” she added.
