My first encounter with Press Club Mapoly was a memorable and unforgotten experience as I was filled with so much excitement and I felt like I was in the midst of scholars.
The reason for that was not far fetched as my eyes was opened to the benefits and advantages of being a press club member.
I have learnt so many things in press club that is of immense benefit to me now. Part of it is learning how to write effectively,opportunity to learn more about editorials and knowing the roles being performed by an editor.
Attending the meeting has made me know the the differences between a news story and a feature report .
Prior to my joining the club, I never knew what was called a byline but Press club took me out of my ignorance and brought me into the light of knowledge. I was also able to know the difference between podcast and broadcast.
Press club Mapoly is avenue for me to be a good writer and to broaden my knowledge in the field of journalism.
Press club MAPOLY is the best club on campus due to their impact in students’ lives. I have never considered writing in my life but Press club made me see the reason I need to write being a Mass communication student.
My dream is to be a presenter and a broadcaster; hence, I never took writing seriously not knowing that there’s nothing I can do in the field of communication without writing.
Being a presenter,there are times that one will need to write a script before presenting. Press Club made me understand that if you want to be great in life, you must start from somewhere and learn to develop your writing skills by writing consistently irrespective of how good or bad it is. You must start from somewhere, have the determination and zeal for writing.
While at the meeting, when some members were sharing their experience of how they started out as a writer and what they have achieved in the writing world today, motivated me and inspired me to be a good writer as well.
