The Student Union President, Ajani Sodiq, known as Optimum, has revealed reasons for his actions, stating that he was never in Support of the management.

He said this yesterday during the protest held at the school gate.

While addressing Press Club Mapoly reporter, he said he does not believe in confrontation, which made him declare his support for the protest late.

Meanwhile, he revealed how his team has met with the management on several occasions to discuss the issue but the "management is proving so stubborn and boycotting us." He declared.

He said, "As a student union leader, our objective is to protect the interests of the students, the students come first before the management, I have never supported the management, it is always the students.

"We had a congress and we arrived at a promise that, this is best for the students that is why it is coming from the students Union, we have never supported the school management against the students.

"We have different perspectives to attend to different issues, I don’t believe in confrontation from time, I believe in consultation, speaking with the management about the current fee took us so long because management is proving so stubborn and boycotting us. It took us so long before we met them and that is what has been delaying us".

" When students are requesting for a protest, we are still reserved, hoping to see what comes out from the consultation before we join them in protest." He said.

He also mentioned that the Student Union has not met with the governing council for discussion.

He said, "Three days back we gave the school management 48 hours ultimatum to scrap the N20,000 fee because we can’t defend the fee if they ask us, and they just constitute the governing council and even the student leaders haven’t met with them yet."

"I believe more in consultation before going on confrontation, we have made a series of consultations, and we even plea on behalf of the students to the management to scrap the fee entirely to restore peace to the student’s populace ." He declared.

He, however, described the situation as unfortunate stating that the students misinterpreted him.

He said, "It’s so unfortunate that most students took us wrong and taught we are not for them but the fact is that even notable world wasrs is been settled on a round table."
