The Director of student affairs of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Olusegun Aninkan has disclosed the reason matriculation is not coming at the usual period, attributing it to the new laws emanating from the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB.
Dr.Aninkan, said "many things are responsible. JAMB has partially taken up everything now, there are certain things the polytechnic must conclude with JAMB before matriculation can come up, if left with the polytechnic, it would have come up with it but we can not do it with the new laws of JAMB".
He stated how a change of institution form is now a function of JAMB and not the institution.
"Do you know that anybody who wants to do a change of institution now has to go through JAMB, whereas it was a function of the institution before? He said.
"Part-time, indirectly, JAMB is also coordinating that, that’s why you can not get as many students as you like because you have to do regularisation and even get some documents from JAMB, so that’s the reason for matriculation delay, that’s why they have been unable to fix a date". He said.
Speaking on whether the matriculation will be virtual, the DSA said that it depends but all he could say presently is that even if it is virtual, there will also be physical matriculation, which will allow for a limited number of attendants
Meanwhile, speaking of cars not allowed to enter the school premises, The DSA said that students are now allowed to come into the school with their vehicles except vehicles with tinted glasses and without registration numbers.
