The Ogun State Punch Correspondent and journalism teacher,Mr Daud Olatunji has said that journalism is a profession for serious minded individuals and those who understands the nitty gritty of the profession.
The statement was made during a media training organized by Platforms Times Newspaper to train members of Press Club MAPOLY on the Rudiment of journalism.
The training which took place at Kay Plaza in Oke Ilewo was meant to open the eyes of the students to diverse opportunity in the media industry.
Speaking at the training, Mr Olatunji, said that “journalism as a profession changes and for one to be an expert In the field ,one has to be a stark literate,and be well convinced about the profession. Although, journalism can be quite challenging,but if you are personally convinced, you will be great”.
Speaking further, he mentioned that for you to meet up with the current trend in the media industry,you need to have an innovative mind and be a good reader.
He said, “for you not to lag behind in the media space,you have to be a constant reader, have an innovative mind and most importantly as a student journalist, cultivate the habit of writing regularly.”
Similarly, The former Editor of Press Club MAPOLY, Mr Sodiq Ojurongbe briefed the Students on career benefits of being a student of Mass Communication and also the objectives of platform times newspaper which includes: training young journalists in news gathering and dissemination and also moral values .
In his remark, Mr Sodiq also pointed out the importance and benefits of using social media platforms as a journalist to enhance ones job.
