Longing for promise land by Taiwo Adeyemo

The dark days beckon to my soul,
As I journey to the unknown land,
I ponder how the day will unfold,
In this new state, where I’ve never been told.

I pray for brighter days to come,
To quench my thirst and soothe my pain,
To laugh and savor joy from the cup,
And let my spirit soar, unrestrained.

I long to dance with my heart’s desire,
Around the feast, with love on fire,
But as I look back, I see the pain,
I left behind, like a lingering refrain.

My deceased soul, will you never return!
I invite you to feast with me, to yearn,
To discuss the days we left far behind,
And seek revenge for my pain and regret entwined.

I’m on a journey to a desperate land,
I yearn to return home, with joy in hand,
But the days are cloudy, not sunny and bright,
How will I find the path to the promised light!
