Mapoly: ASUP holds inaugural lecture, celebrates fmr. deputy rector on his retirement

The Academic staff Union of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (ASUP) yesterday held an inaugural lecture to celebrate a former deputy rector of the polytechnic, Mr Lekan Famuyiwa who retired after his thirty five years of service in the polytechnic.

Mr Lekan Famuyiwa popularly known as "Baba fancy" was a senior lecturer of Statistics and Mathematics. He has served as different capacities in the polytechnic as HOD, deputy rector among others.

The inaugural lecture was well attended by school’s management, academic and non academic staffs, Abeokuta Sport Club members, students representatives on campus, friends and colleagues of the retiree.

The rector, Dr Samson Adesina, while speaking at the lecture held at the Babalakin lecture theatre praised the former senior staff of the polytechnic for his enviable role as an academic in the polytechnic.

"Mr Lekan Famuyiwa a great Father, teacher and tolerant of every situation during his service as a lecturer of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic." he said

He disclosed that the competency of Mapoly lecturers have distinguished its students where ever they find themselves.

According to him, "Moshood Abiola Polytechnic is one of the best three Polytechnic in Nigeria".

Dr Samson Odedina however, urged the academic staff to be committed as they serve the polytechnic.

While appreciating organizers of the lecture, Mr Lekan, encouraged all members of ASUP Mapoly to remain strong and resilient.
