Samson Omoniyi, a student union presidential aspirant in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic 2018/2019 academic session, spoke with the Editor- Press Club Mapoly, Kehinde Ogunyale, on his mission to rescue the institution. Excerpt
Good day sir, you are an aspirants for the post of SU president, could you tell us what motivated this desire and what you aim to achieve?
What motivated this desire was the poor condition of the union body and a desire to make an exquisite impacts in the life of my fellow students. What I aim to achieve is clarified in my manifesto.. Which reads RESCUE MAPOLY
R-Rebranding- the image of MAPOLY unionism
E-Emancipation- Giving freedom to Mapaites. Freedom from any external and internal oppressor.
S-Social Justice-Upholding social justice through nooks and crannies of the institution
C-Communication- Ensuring there is a bridge in communication gap between Mapaites and the union body.
U-Unleashing Potentials- As a man who has enjoyed platforms, Platform will be created to ensure mapaites display the God-given skills and talents that can be encouraged to creativity and innovation.
E-Empowerment- Heritage has decided to discuss with the management to bring in new technical way of practicing entrepreneurship in MAPOLY to encourage vocational skills and reduce job scarcity for MAPAITES. Raising CEO’s instead of job seekers..
You are working on the mission to rescue Mapoly, why do you think the institution needs one?
It’s visible to all and audible to all that MAPOLY deserves better than it is experiencing as at the moment… Only the wicked denies a tasty soul water to quench her taste.
How best do you think your team would advocate for the students and their interest?
Our Team is set to advocate intentionally and persuasively, Utilizing every possible means to uphold the interest of mapaites.
If elected, asides your manifesto, what do the student stand to gain?
The stand to gain a memorable experience in MAPOLY. our team will ensure students regain their confidence in the market place after enjoying necessary welfarism while on campus
Why do you think you and your team are the best men for the job?
I don’t think, I know! Because we are determined to deliver a new MAPOLY.
What is your definition of a new Mapoly?
A New MAPOLY is our moment of transformation through synergized Efforts.
A New MAPOLY is the MAPOLY every mapaites desire to see.. That MAPOLY where
Our voices are heard,Where our welfarism is help utmost,Where students are free of oppressions,
Where our image regain it’s glory,
Where campus prepares student for the market place,Where entrepreneurship becomes a spirit that recuses mapaites from the unemployment in the country… This is A New. MAPOLY
What would be your final words to voters?
To the voters, Heritage is intentional about his aspiration, nobody in the background is pushing me. We need a leader that has an independent mind not someone that can be tossed around. I need your support to deliver a new MAPOLY, I will be honoured by your votes and supports.
