MAPOLY DSA inaugurates new students’ representative

…as Speaker assures students better welfares

The Directorate office for students’ Affairs, Moshood Abiola polytechnic (MAPOLY), has inaugurated the new Students Representative council (SRC) for the 2017/2018 Academic session.

The newly SRC members were Students from HND 1 and ND 1 representing various departments on campus.

While speaking with PRESS CLUB MAPOLY, the Acting Director for students affairs, Town planner Luke Adebola charged the new Students representative to duly follow their legislative constitution where their roles and duties on campus is vivid stated.

In his words, “the duty of my office is to monitor the students’ activities on campus most especially the students’ Union Electoral Committee (SUELECO), Students Representative council (SRC), and the students’ Union Executive.

“This time around, we have laid a solid foundation as against the one that happened last time. To put fear in mind of the new SUELECO members, they have signed an undertaken, swore an Oath with the office of state security at Oke – Mosan and also with us here to make sure that they won’t be partial in discharging their duties”, he said.

It would be recalled that previous Students union election that was conducted in mid of last semester was later cancelled by the management as a result of petitions written by aspirants alleging the SUELECO members of being partial and responsible for the irregularities during the election.

He however implored the new representative to be mindful of what they do, adding that they are representing the students’ interest and whosoever doing that must show a good character as leaders.

Speaking on behalf of the newly representative council, the new SRC Speaker, Mr Durodola Folorunsho, a student of HND1 Microbiology assured students that their needs would be their utmost mission.

On his appointment as Speaker, he said, “Am here to advocate for needs students and their welfare is my major priority.

According to him, SRC needs support from students for them to discharge their roles and duties as stated in the students’ constitution”.
