The institution of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, Ogun State has opened application for her Higher National Diploma, HND Pharmaceutical Technology programme.
This announcement, made by the institution’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola on Monday followed the reinstatement of the programme by the National Board for Technical Education, NBTE.
Recall that in April 2024, the Pharmacy Council of Nigeria, PCN, and National Board for Technical Education NBTE signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), abolishing the training of pharmaceutical technologists in Nigerian institutions.
The information was passed through the PCN registrar, Ibrahim Ahmed, stressing that only National Diploma in Pharmacy Technicians will be trained and accredited across the country.
This, however, caused controversy among students who were yet to graduate and those who have graduated with the programe certificate.
But, on Monday, MAPOLY announced the reopening of application into the programme, stating that NBTE has reinstated it into its curriculum.
The statement read, “This is to inform the General Public that the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) has reinstated the admission into Higher National Diploma, Pharmaceutical Technology into its curricula.”
Prospective students are therefore advised to “proceed to the application portal on https://v4.mapoly.edu.ng/admission/apply/application to obtain the prescribed form without delay. Application form closes on Sunday, 22nd February, 2025.”
