The hopes of resuming academic activities at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta are high as the three staff unions in the institution are ready to hold Congresses on Monday, June 3, 2019.
MAPOLY has since the end of the 2017/18 second semester examination embarked on strike over months of unpaid entitlements.
Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Non Academic Staff Union (NASU) and Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Polytechnics (SSANIP) of MAPOLY at various points embarked on strike to react to about N635 million owed the institution.
The three unions were on Thursday in a brief meeting, a day after the inauguration of the Ogun state governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun.
Press Club MAPOLY (PCM) reliably gathered that the meeting was not unconnected with plans to call off the strike action and allow the new government settle in office.
PCM further gathered that at the end of the meeting, the three union decided to hold their congresses on Monday, June 3, 2019.
The chairmen of the three unions in seperate conversations confirmed that the decision to hold the Congress was reached at the end of the Thursday meeting.
Following this development, speculations trail the air on a possibility of student coming back on campus on or before June 10, 2019.
PCM however noticed mild migration of MAPOLY students inward and outward Abeokuta as part of readiness for the speculated resumption.
