The 41st Speaker of the Students’ Representative Council (SRC) of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Comrade Ademolu Toheeb Olawale, has reaffirmed the Council’s commitment to transparency and accountability in student governance.
Olawale made this known on Thursday during the inaugural Open Sitting of the SRC, held at the Babalakin Hall of the institution.
The event, which brought together representatives of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), the Students’ Union Government (SUG), faculty leaders, and other notable guests, marked a significant step toward strengthening participatory governance within the polytechnic.
In his welcome address, Speaker Olawale commended the Rector, Arc. Dr. Babatunde Jolaoso, for what he described as “a short but impactful tenure.”
He highlighted visible improvements in academic structure, student welfare, administrative responsiveness, and infrastructural development under the Rector’s leadership.

He further explained that ever since the Rector assumed office, the institution has enjoyed a stable academic calendar and improved administrative responsiveness.
According to him, “leadership is not measured by the length of time spent in office, but by the value and progress achieved.”
The speaker further emphasized the importance of the institution’s Open Leadership Policy, describing it as a framework that ensures the Council remains people-centered—committed to listening to students, encouraging dialogue, and embracing constructive feedback.
He therefore called on Honourable Members of the Council to let their debates, motions, and resolutions during the Open Sitting reflect the principles of transparency and democratic engagement. He stressed that members owe the student body responsible and accountable representation.
In the same vein, he acknowledged the dedication of the Honourable Members and expressed appreciation to students for continuing to place their trust in the SRC.
