The Students’ Union Government, SUG, of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Ojere, Abeokuta, has expressed strong disapproval over the conduct of Computer-Based Examinations, CBE, that extended into late hours, leaving some students on campus as late as 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, 2025.
In a press statement signed by the union president, Comrade Sen. Ogunlana Isaac Oluwajuwonlo, Icecon Ray, the SUG described the situation as “unacceptable and unfair,” stressing that students’ welfare and safety must not be compromised in the name of examinations.
The union argued that the prolonged schedule exposes students to grave risks, including security threats while leaving campus late, health challenges from stress and fatigue, and emotional strain capable of affecting their performance.
“While we appreciate the efforts of the examination committee and ICT unit to ensure all students are duly examined, keeping students on campus till late in the evening contradicts the principle of a conducive academic environment,” the statement read.
The SUG therefore called on the institution’s management and ICT Directorate to immediately review the scheduling system of CBEs.
In the same vein, it recommended alternative measures such as improved timetabling, extension of examination days, or more efficient use of facilities to prevent students from writing exams at night.
“As a union, we remain committed to fairness, safety, and the overall well-being of our student populace. We urge management to act swiftly to prevent a repeat of this situation,” the statement concluded.
