Six months after closure of schools due to the Coronavirus pandemic, Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Abeokuta has set September 21st for resumption of academic activities.
A proposed academic calendar by the management for first semester 2019/ 2020 academic session obtained by Press Club MAPOLY stated that the polytechnic will resume for in- person activities starting from September 21st.
Recall that PCM had earlier reported that the Ogun State Government announced September 21st as resumption date for schools in the state
The proposed calendar is in line with the directive by the State as the Government already stated tertiary institutions in the state are allowed to resume from the stated date as may be determined by their respective Management.
Also, PCM reported a fake calendar belonging to Osun State College of Education was being circulated last week on social media as that of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic.
Speaking with PCM, Head Public Relations and Protocol of the Polytechnic, Mr Yemi Ajibola confirmed the approval of the academic calendar on Tuesday.
Ajibola disclosed that the National Diploma Students (ND) will receive lectures in the morning while the Higher National Diploma Students (HND) starts lectures in the afternoon.
Though the proposed academic calendar being circulated has not been officially released, the PRO confirmed that it’s authentic.
According to the proposed calendar, resumption of in person for academic activities start on September 21st.
The calendar stipulates a two weeks period for course revision, preparation for examination, in person registrations and signing of exam cards etc.
During the two week period, the calendar states that the National Diploma students (ND) must not be found on campus by 1pm.
The calendar stated matriculation ceremony will hold on September 30th.
The first semester examination for HND2 and ND2 Students will commenced on October 5th to 17th while other classes examination holds between October 19th to 31st.
The Calendar reads:
” All ND Students FT and PT hold lectures between 8am- 12pm Monday to Friday.
“HND Students holds lectures from 1pm to 5pm.
” No ND Students must be found on campus by 1pm.
” Matriculation ceremony for fresh ND1 and HND1 Students hold on September 30th.
” First semester 2019/2020 examination for terminal classes holds for two weeks between October 5th and 17th.
” First semester examination for other classes hold October 19th to October 31st.
” First semester ends October 31st while the second semester for the 2019/2020 commenced on November 2nd.”
