The Department of Mass Communication of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic held an orientation for its students across all levels on how to use the new portal for course registration.
MAPOLYPress gathered that the orientation was in two segments; the first segment of the orientation began with all National Diploma I and II which was held at Mass Communication Main Hall, while the second phase of the orientation was held at the OGD Hall for HND1 and HND II students.
At the first phase of the orientation, The Head of Department, Dr. Lekan Togunwa revealed that the purpose of the orientation is to educate the students on how to use the new portal to register for the semester’s courses.
Mr. Femi Adurodola, Who is from the Department of Computer Science, addressed the students and taught them how to use the new portal for their course registration.
He said: “Students will have to register all the courses that they will do in a session, not in a semester.
“ND II students are to choose one between MAC211(Sociology) and MAC212 (Psychology) in other not to have the course as carryover”.
He further explained that course registration will only be accessible for students who have paid their school fees and the admin fee.
He said that the total units for all ND I students is 64 units for both Full-Time and Part-Time while 68 units is the total course units for ND II full-time students which is segmented into two; 36 units for the first semester and 32 units for the second semester.
“ND II part-time is 64 units also 2 units for the first semester and the same goes with the second semester”.
The Director of Students’ Affairs of the institution, Dr. Kolawole Amos, who attended the second phase of the orientation, said that he wants students that he will be proud of both in academics and morals but he is not seen this in the life of the current HND II students.
The Head of the department, Dr. Lekan Togunwa also addressed the students and advised them to all be present in class as the department is going to take more attention to attendance as one of the criteria to write exams.
Mr. Kareem Semiu, who is the technical manager of the department, enlightened the student on how to log in to the new portal using a projector, as an illustration, to guide the student after instructing them to log in with the school portal.
He said, “Your username is the e-mail you used to register while the password is your surname”.
“The broadcast students should delete print courses that they are not doing and the same thing goes to print too.
He, however, unveiled to the student that there is no more exam pass and urged them to ensure that they choose only mass communication courses before they register for the courses.
“You should be careful when choosing the course because the portal is not mainly for mass communication nor the School of Communication Information and Technology but for the school”.
