MSSN MAPOLY To Kick Off Freshers’ Orientation Week Program, Invites Rector, Other Muslim Lecturers To Its Formal Opening

The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria, MSSN), Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta branch, is set to officially commence its Freshers’ Orientation Week, an initiative designed to welcome and integrate newly admitted Muslim students’ into the campus community.

The fresher’s week, set to commence on Monday at 10am, will start with an awareness rally, involving visiting all departments on campus to get students familiar with the society. This is as gathered in a flyer, released by the society on Saturday evening.

The event, themed “Unity, Faith and Excellence: A Muslim’s Journey on Campus,” which runs from Monday, February 10, to Thursday, February 13, 2025, aims to provide freshers with moral, academic, and spiritual support while fostering a strong sense of Islamic identity among students.

The second day of the program, Tuesday, is set to feature a “Sisters’ Seminar” at the school mosque by 4PM, creating a space for female Muslim students to engage in discussions on personal development, faith and academic success.

Additionally, an Inter-School Football Competition will take place at the school field by 2PM, aimed at fostering brotherhood and unity among students through sports.

As part of fresher’s week program, the “Formal opening” at the school mosque ground, which is set to hold on Wednesday at 11am, would have in attendance the Polytechnic Rector, Dr. Kamardeen Jolaoso, Polytechnic Librarian, Mrs. Akintunde Shakirat, Head of Department, Mass Communication, Dr. Wasiu Tejuoso, Dr. Mrs. Alaran, Dr. TPL Kilaso, Dr. Apampa, and several other respected Muslim lecturers, to grace the occasion.

This gathering will also feature a keynote lecture by Mallam Abdulsemiu Hamza on the topic; “Upholding Taqwa (God-Consciousness) in Academic Life.”

In the same vein, on Thursday, the program will conclude with an Open Air Dawah at the school gate entrance by 3PM, where “Sheikh Imam Ishaq Abolore Muhammadul Awwal” will deliver an impactful lecture on “Islamic Ethics and Morals: Your Identity as a Muslim Student.” This session aims to remind students of their responsibilities as Muslims in a secular academic environment and encourage them to uphold Islamic values in all aspects of their lives.

The MSSN MAPOLY has therefore urged all Muslim students, particularly the newly admitted ones, to participate actively in the week-long event, emphasizing that it is a rare opportunity to gain knowledge, mentorship, and a strong support system within the institution.

The MSSN MAPOLY has also held a crucial meeting with departmental presidents on campus to seek their support in solving some of the society challenges.

The meeting, which held virtually on Sunday evening, sought their supports in getting Muslim data, so as to strengthen the structure of the society.

Therefore, conclusions were made and the presidents, who attended, promised to give their support in helping collating their data.
