The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) Cup third edition kicked off on Thursday at MAPOLY sports Complex.
Marketing football team recorded the biggest win on day one after defeating Science Laboratory Technology (SLT) three goals to one.
Computer Engineering defeated her neighbor Computer Engineering two goals to one.
The defending champion also defeats Accountancy a goal to nil while Banking and finance record a win against Nutrition and Dietics.
Mechanical Engineering department also defeated Pharmaceutical technology, Civil Engineering also recorded a win over Statistics while Urban and Regional Shocked Estate management.
The last encounter saw Business Administration and Food Science and Technology shared spoils as matches were rounded up on Thursday and Friday.
Reacting after the victory, the sports director of Mass-communication, Miss Asodun Olabode, told Press Club MAPOLY gave a sincere appreciation to God and her team for winning.
According to the her," I would like to thank God, because if not God and my team confidence, we won’t win today’s match, I had been fixed with different teams on campus before today’s match, I can boldly say am not afraid of one" she said.
She also added that most of her players were new on campus which made her team loses chances in the first half.
"The only thing I can say is maybe as a result of stage fear and being their first match of most of them, make them had some lapses in the beginning I won’t say they are inferior to us but there was a day the Accountancy coach came to meet me, we argued about the match and being over confidence".
"He called my team the Chi polo polo of Mass-communication but my team said coach calm down and I believe in them which they did more than expected" she said.
However, The National Association of Polytechnic Accountancy Student (NAPAS) coach, Mohammed Yusuf Tijani said that the match is the most important game in the department.
"This is the most important match in the NAOSS edition which all department wishes to participate".He said
Furthermore, he said that there are more lapses on the pitch today and looking forward for the next match.
"I tried my possible best but when there is injury there is nothing I can do,i have so many lapses on the pitch and make it up with my opponent next match. I would also urge my team most especially the defender and the midfielder on our next match" he said.
Matches will continue on Monday at MAPOLY Sports Complex.
