The National Broadcasting Commission,NBC has inspected the radio of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic and advised students to stay out of external politics.
The Zonal Director of National Broadcasting Commission, Ibadan zonal office, Mr Raphael Akpan said this to the students after the inspection of the MAPOLY radio on Wednesday.
Akpan stated that the external politics is not for the students as he said, there are dangers in entertaining external politicians.
He said, " Issues of politics, 2023 is coming, it is not for you, campus politics, yes for you, you can take it on your radio station, but when you start bringing in politicians and, all that, it is dangerous.
"Let me tell you the danger, some of them would want to come and visit so that you can interview them, so their voices could be heard, and when they are coming, they don’t come alone, they come with thugs, the danger to the campus is there. So anything politics, stay away from it, except campus politics."
However, the Rector, Dr Adeoye Odedeji, said the radio would serve as a teaching tool to students on campus, and engineers in the school would also have the opportunity to work in the studio.
He said, " The radio is not for commercial use, it will be used to educate students. It’s a teaching tool to produce future journalists, broadcasters and students from electrical engineering would have the opportunity of working in the studio."
He, therefore, appreciated the NBC as he said, the school hopes to get a good report from the commission.
