An ND1 student of mass communication department, Halimat Akorede has emerged winner of the second edition of AMACOS public speaking competition.
The competition which has now become an annual ritual of the department had 15 students contested while 5 made it to the finals.
Recall that the first edition was won by an HND 1 student, Samson Omoniyi, who is now the student’s union president.
Halimat, was announced winner while Blessing Abioje and Busola Akintola from HND 1 and ND 1 emerged second and third respectively.
Earlier In his remarks, the head of department, mass communication, Kolawole Amos congratulated AMACOS executives for the event as well as the immediate past president of the student body led by Oshoala Kaffy for being the initiator.
He further disclosed that the first runner up will get an Esther Iyabode’s prize for public speaking, a prize in honour of the HOD’s late mother who according to him was his best teacher.
”The first speaker will win the Esther Iyabode’s price which attracts a sum of N10,000."he declared
Also, the school staff adviser, Mr Lekan Togunwa said the event was established in other to add value to students and the need for them to embrace the speaking skills.
In attendance were, Representative of the Rector, SCIT Sub Dean, Lecturers, MAPSU representatives among others.
