The rector Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Samson Odedina has declared the removal of penalty fee on tuition for the 2018/2019 academic session.
Addressing students on Friday at the Ramotu Ibironke Babalakin hall of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Students Union (MAPSU) Central Executive Council (CEC) inauguration, Dr. Odedina also announced the extension of the payment deadline by two weeks.
Recall that 21st and 28th were earlier announced as deadline for registrations by fresh and returning students respectively as indicated in the proposed academic calendar released four days back.
Students in all categories now have till Friday 5th July to perfect all payments and registrations required for the first semester of the 2018/19 session..
This magnanimity on the part of the rector was greeted with applauds by students who were earlier pleading for an extension in the deadline.
The school PRO, Yemi Ajibola has since issued a press release to affirm the rector’s promise.
The removal of the penalty fee by the rector is a rare feat in the institution and has since been commended by different quarters.
Meanwhile, the MAPSU CEC which was inaugurated after about three months of its election, have been receiving felicitations from different corners.
The SRC in a statement signed by Speaker and Clerk, Rt. Hon Olasile Aderemi and Hon. Chara Blessing said the inauguration marks the ‘commencement of another phase of courageous and progressive struggle in the history our prestigious institution.’
While reiterating its readiness to synergies its activities with the executive arm to progressively fast-track the reality of a New MAPOLY, the SRC assured all students of a better representation.
Also felicitating with MAPSU were NAOSS, Ijebu students association, Lagos students association, AMACOS amongst others.
Attending the MAPSU inauguration alongside the rector were the School, Yemi Ajibola; Acting DSA Tpl. Luke Adelaja, Director Academic Planning Dr.Odedeji, polytechnic lawyer, Polytechnic counselor, among many other management staff and lecturers of the institution.
