The National Union of Campus Journalists (NUCJ) has unveiled its plans to train and expose students journalists across Nigeria.
The plan which is termed the NUCJ Capacity Training is expected to run from July to December 2021.
In a statement signed by its National Secretary, Uchenna Igwe, the body stated that the project is to expose student journalists to current trends in the journalism community, equip them with relevant skills and capacities to improve society and in preparation for professional newsroom practice.
The training, it said, will be held on Zoom and will zero in on issues including media law and ethics, human rights, data and visualization, health, climate and energy, solutions and development journalism.
Speaking, its President, Samuel Ajala said that 500 students will be provided with data support in order to cushion the high cost of data the training will demand.
The statement in part, “The training which run from July – December 2021 will focus on issues including media law and ethics, human rights, data and visualization, health, climate and energy, solutions and development journalism. It will hold on Zoom with a livestream on the NUCJ Facebook page.
“The training session will be facilitated by seasoned journalists and experts in these selected area of focus.”
