… I won’t hand over to a caretaker — Easy

The chairman of Ogun State National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Comrade Adeyanju Francis has visited Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, over the ongoing Student Union Government election in the school.
Francis visited MAPOLY on Friday to ensure free and fair electioneering process.
Having visited, he met with the Institution’s Director of Students Affairs, Dr Kolawole Amos at his office, where they discussed the pros and cons of the ongoing election.
Among the issues discussed was the glitch which occured on SUG portal earlier this morning, making it difficult for students to perform their voting exercise.
Comr. Francis stated that he had to visit when he learned about the issue, stressing that students rights should not be violated.
He said, “we are here to ensure free and fair election, we are not your enemies, we are only upholding our mandate. The students already entrusted us with this.”
Responding to him, Dr Amos explained that what caused the glitch was a network issue, adding that the election had started and students are already voting.
“As at now, we have the election is ongoing,” he stated, stressing that the vote would end by 2pm, which is an additional 1hr due to the glitch experienced this morning.
Having screened the voting exercise, Comr. Francis addressed the political agents on ground.
He said, “I can tell you with what we saw inside, it shows this election is peaceful enough and you can see the environment is peaceful.
“I want to tell you the SUELECO members are doing what you want them to do. I want you to be calm and keep monitoring the election closely.”
He also appreciated the outgoing SUG president, Hezekiah Babatunde for his commitment to making the election hold.
He said, “I want to appreciate the outgoing president, in some schools, you won’t see the president again.”
Speaking also, Babatunde appreciated his supporters for making the election hold.
He said he had been working to make sure he didn’t hand over the mandate to a caretaker.
“I appreciate you for making this day come to pass, I am meant to hand over and that’s why I’ve been on this mission that I won’t hand over to a caretaker.”
“Thank you, today’s the day,” he said.
