The team lead of TOB Multimedia Concept (TMC), Oyejide Solomon has stated that the press club is responsible to preach the institution in good light and changing the face of the Polytechnic by creating a documentary.
He made this statement known on Thursday while delivering a Lecture on Journalism of today at the Press Club Mapoly(PCM) meeting held at the old mass communication building.
Speaking on the topic ‘Journalism of today’, Oyejide defined journalism as the act of writing, editing, and presenting news articles for widespread distribution.
In his words: “History of journalism started in Rome during the Ceasar period using an old rugged tablet to post news stories on the wall in which different people come from different places to know what was written on the wall, 1809 the existence of paper came, then people have different copies of the news being pasted on the board.”
He explained that the responsibility of the club as the school press is to preach the institution in a good light and change the face of the school by creating a documentary for the institution with prominent predecessors of Mapoly.
Oyejide maintained that the world is evolving and people are attracted to what they see, let the presenters in PCM present the news that is being published during the week and this won’t let the audience read alone but also let them visualize the content.
Speaking further, he implored the club to draw a school map at the school entrance and provide a publication for the students.
“Draw the school map, paste it at the school entrance to direct prospective students and strangers to their destination, and do a newspaper or magazine publication catchy enough to attract buyers”.
Oyejide, however, advised every member of Press Club MAPOLY to contribute their quota and take their stand in journalism as a school press.
