The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Edward Ajogun has called for the support of Nigerian Campus Journalists and editors towards security advancement in the society through their news reportage.

Ajogun gave the charge during an interaction with Journalists at the lecture and award night of Ogun NUJ, Federated Chapel held at Continental suites Abeokuta.

The Commissioner while reacting to the issues on security negligence over Campus Journalist and how the security do not like to give out information to campus journalist raised by Adeleke Yusuf, National President, Campus Editors (NANCE) and Hassan Abdulsalam, the South West Coordinator of the National Union of Campus journalists (NUCJ) noted that information may not be released when investigation is ongoing.

“It is not that the security is trying to be evasive in giving out information to campus reporters, but information may not be released why the investigation is still in process.”

Ajogun further explained that Campus Journalists can help security agencies to scrutinise criminals on campus, adding that this will go a long way to curb criminal activities from the scratch.

He, however, advised that campus journalists should contribute their quota to the advancement of security in their various campus environments in the dissemination of information that will be helpful in putting an end to criminal activities in the state.
