The Director of Students’ Affairs, DSA, in Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Dr Kolawole Amos has met with Students’ Representative Council and Student Union Government aspirants.

This is in preparedness for the much anticipated SRC and SUG elections which have been scheduled to hold on Thursday and Friday, June 27th and 28th respectively.

The meeting, which held on Monday and started around 11:45am, had in attendance the institution’s sub-dean, Architect Solanke Peter, School Councillor, Mr Folorunso Jacob, the Director Of Academic Planning, Dr Olusegun Aninkan, the outgoing SUG president, Hezekiah Babatunde, among others.

During the meeting, three problems, potentially capable to halt the process of holding the election on Thursday and Friday, were identified by Dr. Amos.

He revealed that apart from the result issue which was yet to be solved, the outgoing Students Electoral Committee, SUELECO members have been inactive, which could later lead to the disrupt the election as they are to conduct it.

Also, he revealed that the SUG website is due for subscription and there’s an urgent need to pay for renewal.

He said, “we now have three issues to solve, the one of not seeing your results on your portal, the absence of Students Electoral Committee, SUELECO members, when they came on board, they were still in the system, but some of them have left, and getting them has been a difficult thing.

“The members aren’t available, and they must conduct the election, the directorate on its own cannot.

“Also, the subscription of the SUG website is due, how do we solve it?”

As gathered, some of the aspirants were yet to see their results on their respective portals.

In response to this, Dr Aninkan assured that the aspirants results would be available on their portals by Tuesday..

He stressed that he has been to the Centre for Information and Technology Management, CITM for some hours and has been assured that the aspirants results would be out by Tuesday.

He said, “to make the election hold, your results would be out tomorrow, leave the issue of results to the management, we are responsible for that, be assured, you’ll see it on your portal tomorrow.”

Speaking on the availability of the SUELECO members, he advised that the election be conducted with new members, as the outgone members have no business to do with the institution’s affairs.

“They are no more students , so if they decide not to come, it shouldn’t disturb us,” he added.

Concerning the subscription of the SUG portal, Dr Amos stressed that within 24hrs the portal would be live, adding that the subscription would have been renewed by then.

He stressed that with the new portal, having being renewed, the SRC and the SUG elections would hold seamlessly on Thursday and Friday.
