…SUG Election to Hold on Friday

The long-awaited Student Representative Council (SRC) election was held today, August 26, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the student governance process.
The election, which began at 10 a.m., was initially scheduled to conclude at 12 p.m. but was extended by 20 minutes due to network issues and ended at exactly 12:20 p.m.
As gathered, out of a total of 7,309 eligible voters, only 393 students participated in the election, raising concerns about student engagement and interest in student leadership.
Despite the challenges, the election process was successfully concluded, and the results were announced by the interim Student Electoral Committee Chairman, who is popularly known as Teewalex.

In a commendation speech, the Director of Students’ Affairs (DSA), Dr. Kolawole Amos, who was present at the election control room, praised the efforts of the interim Chairman, for his dedication and commitment to ensuring a smooth election process.
He also expressed gratitude to the members of the monitoring team for their cooperation throughout the election.
Dr. Amos further commended the security personnel who were on the ground throughout the election process, ensuring a safe and secure environment.
He stated, “I hope you will build on the success recorded today when we will be having the SUEC election on Friday, by the grace of God.”
