The Student Representative Council as well as the Student Union Executive Council have agreed on a reduced rate of N700 for the payment of the Student Union Government Dues as against the N1100 levied by the union.
In a release signed by the SRC speaker, Durodola Folorunsayo, the duo maintained that its had listened the clamor raised by students and have jointly agreed to do so.
He also stated that the students should await an official release which would be sent by the SUG to effect the new payment rate.
The release reads: "The students Representative Council serves as the legislative arm of the students union and the representative of the students at each level of every department.
" The issue of the Insurance and sms alert has been going viral and the grievance of the students as gone out of proportion.
"As the representatives of the students, the interest of the students is our optimum priority and to this end we have taken steps to relay the interest of our students to the SUEC.
"However, We use this medium to announce to the students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic that a meeting has been organised between the SRC and the SUEC to bring the the amount of the SU due to 700 which would be bearable by the students and this would help move the Union forward.
"The President has agreed to minimise the due to 700 and official release would be made by the student union public relation officer.
"A yoruba adage says, a bunch of broom stick makes sweeping easier but a broom stick can never make a sweeping easy, We all want the progress of our great institution and we pray it moves forward."
