SUG will now handle transportation in MAPOLY – Ag. Rector

The Acting Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji on Monday said that the newly elected Students Union will now be among those steering the transportation system of the polytechnic.

Odedeji made this known during the inauguration of the newly elected Students Union led by its President, Comrade Babatunde Adeola a.k.a Babs.

The Ag. Rector, while responding to a request made by the Students Union President as regards giving the union a platform to improve the transportation system in MAPOLY, said that the management will quickly draft the SU executive into the committee handling transportation so it could be a part of it.

He added that he is happy that the Students Union is back in MAPOLY to work together with all important bodies in the school to ensure that the school runs an efficient system.

He said, “However, now that we have Students Union executive in place, I can assure you that we will quickly review the committee handling transportation, and your executive members will be part of that committee.

“There is the need for both the management, the Students Union and members of staff union to cooperate to ensure we run an efficient system. Once it is efficient, a lot of challenges would be addressed and would no longer constitute as negative incidents to bring us down. That is why we have made all efforts to ensure that we have a Students Union body that can be a voice for the students populace. And I am very happy that such is being constituted today.”

Reacting to this, the SU president, Babs remarked that it is a fantastic move that will see his administration carry out its objective on transportation effectively.

“It is a fantastic move and I’m glad that the Rector answered our call. This is an opportunity to effectively carry out our agenda on transportation,” he said.

Earlier in his speech, Babs had promised the entire students’ populace that his administration shall carry the students along in everything it does.

He noted that the vision of his administration is to make MAPOLY Students Union Government a model SUG, leading other SUGs of the federation in good governance and exemplary leadership.

Also present at the inauguration were some notable dignitaries such as the polytechnic’s Public Relations Officer, Yemi Ajibola, the Chairman, ASUP MAPOLY, Chibuzor Osifalujo, the Director of the Directorate of Students Affairs, Dr. Olusegun Aninkan among others.
