FirstNews management has lamented that three days after the abduction of the organization’s editor, Segun Olatunji, he’s still yet to be found.
Recall that Olatunji, who’s also a former bureau chief for The Punch in Kaduna, got kidnapped last Friday from his residence in Iyana Odo, an Abule Egba neighborhood of Lagos State.
Without getting any update on his whereabouts, the media outlet’s management has cried out to say the editor’s whereabouts are still unknown.
This was gathered in a statement issued on Saturday by the news organization’s management.
According to the statement, Olatunji’s disappearance can be connected to a recent publication by FirstNews about General Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff.
The organization therefore urged security agents to intervene, stressing that all efforts to know his whereabouts proved abortive.
“The military or any of the security agencies have not responded regarding their knowledge or involvement in his arrest.
“We implore the military high command and security services to promptly provide information regarding Olatunji’s location and the events leading up to his apprehension.
“Even amid challenges, we are committed to providing factual, genuine, and reliable news.
“FirstNews is unwavering in its call for our colleague to get justice. Despite the obstacles we encounter, we remain steadfast in our dedication to upholding press freedom and the search for the truth,” it stated.
