The students of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, have shunned the institution’s management decision on increasing the tuition fee over delayed payment, and they lamented that the school should release their results early for them to pay their fees.
According to the students, their parents are not ready to pay their school fees because they haven’t seen results of their previous sessions.
They added that while some of their colleagues in other departments have seen their results, parents believe all of them in general have seen their results respectively.
Also, while some of the students faulted the Student Union Government for accepting to the management, some faulted their colleagues who have their money ready for not paying in time.
A student in Mass Communication who spoke anonymously lamented her parents had decided not to pay her school fees because she is yet to see her previous sessions results.
She further explained that whenever she wanted to defend the school, her parents compare MAPOLY to her cousin’s school, adding that her cousin provided her results without them asking.
She said, “how do they expect parents or sponsors of a students to pay for another session when they haven’t seen results of previous session?.
“My cousin is also in MAPOLY (marketing, HND2) and their HND1 results has been posted on school portal.
“Anytime I tell my parents that our results are not yet released, they do ask me if my institution is different from that of my Cousin. The management are not organized, I find it hard to defend the school.”
In the same vein, an ND 2 masscom student lamented that they had written exams for almost a year without getting results, stressing that other institutions are working perfectly.
In his words, the school management is not organized, adding that there is no how students would cooperate with them in this manner.
He said, “the school management is not doing their duties right and they expect students to cooperate with them.
“How can students write exams for almost a year now (last year May) and haven’t seen results till now?”
However, speaking with an SUG appointee, he said , “being an Appointee ,The SUG explained everything to me but the question is, how many people can he explain to?.
“We shouldn’t forget that the school had added the penalty fee few months ago but the Students Union met with school management and resolved the issue and part of the agreement was that the school should give students the grace till 1st week of April and if I am not mistaken this is the 3rd week of April.
“I told the SUG President that probably if he had reminded the students in the press release about how the penalty fee was reverted few months ago, that could have reduced the tension” He added.
Student from the Science Laboratory Technology (SLT), Aboderin oyindamola added that, “I don’t think it a good idea adding any amount to the school fees cuz most of the students are yet to pay self so them now adding to it again it will just be a foolish idea ni”.
Another source from the department of Pharmtech, Oluwatobiloba, said “That Easy of a guy is just doing things out of ‘’I’m Really Working as a President’’ Why Elected if he won’t work and take sides on the student.
“Throughout my years on campus, I have always paid my fee on exam day or a day to exam, hands ain’t equal, he should do things right, he should not compare mapoly with other schools.
“As for the SRC, that Pple are damn okay, they know what comradeship is all about unlike SU President that believes in Dialogue always which might not always work out for Students”.
