Adedayo Abayomi, Hardex Triumphs, Becomes AMACOS 41st President

Adedayo Abayomi popularly known as Hardex has been elected as the 41st president of the Association of Mass Communication Students, AMACOS, for the 2025/2026 academic session.

Hardex, on Thursday, won the election with a total number of 432 votes against Balogun Jesusferanmi Morenikeji popularly known as BJM who had 102 vote.

The election saw a total number of 636 accredited voters, 3396 prospective voters and 538 actual voters.

For the post of the vice president 1, Toyosi Sanusi Abiodun emerged with a total vote of 459 unopposed, while Adedoyin Fuhad Olamilekan swept a total vote of 411, emerging as winner over Akinwunmi Kehinde Esther who had 85 votes.

Idowu Oluwadamilare Shonubi emerged as the the treasurer with a total vote of 469 unopposed, also Michael Adeola Adeleye emerged with a total of 433 vote unopposed.

For the post of Assistant General Secretary, Adedoyin Adedeji emerged with a total vote of 350 against Ogunriola Anuoluwapo Ebenezer who had 88 votes.

Andu Dauda Abayomi emerged as PRO with 409 vote, while Oluwatunmise Deborah Adekansola securing the post of Deputy PRO over Habeeb Opeyemi Rauf with a total vote of 306 against 193 votes.

For the post of Financial Secretary Makanjuola Oluwafunmilayo Ayomide emerged with the total vote of 352 over Mutiu Bukola Raimot who had 139 votes.

Mofetoluwa Odeyemi secured the post of the Social Director with a total vote of 334, defeating Adedoyin Damilola Oluwaseyi who had 185 votes.

Musbau Mubarak Olatunde emerged as the sport director with 379 votes, defeating Balogun Ifeoluwa Okikiola who had 114 votes.

For the office of the Liberian, Oyesanmi Azeez Omotoyosi emerged 269 votes while her opposition Olaleye Olaoluwa lost with 229 votes.

Having three candidates contest for the post of deputy librarian, Jimoh Zainab Oluwapelumi emerged as the winner with 305 votes over Ridwan Olamide Babatunde who had 142 votes and Oyedeji Florence Damilola who also had 65 votes.

Also Opamoye Oluwadamilare Sandra sweeps the post of the welfare Director with a total vote of 432, defeating Adeleye Joy Adenike who had 80 votes.

The Association of Mass Communication Electoral Committee, AMEC chairman, Fatunbi Solomon, described the election as a better one, comparing it to last year where there were low turnouts of votes.

Solomon said, “It has been like that right from time, students have always felt like participating in elections is not their thing and I feel this is an everybody’s thing, so I think it is on the side of students because AMEC has been publicizing the election for long period, but unlike last year when we had 300 voters, now we have over 600 accredited voters.”

He therefore urged students to continue to show interest in voting, stressing that “that’s the only way they can vote in candidates that will represent them well.”
