LETTERS: Have a mentor

Olusegun Oke

A mentor is a wise and trusted counsellor or teacher. No man can be successful in his work if he doesn’t have a mentor.

Some people do belief that they don’t need mentor because they think they can do it all alone without anybody putting them through.
But there is a saying that “seeing is believing”, but when it comes to Christianity the saying is not applicable because you must believe Jesus before you see miracle.

So for your goal to come true, you must meet with someone that is doing well in what you want to become and that person will be the one that will put you through and help you to know what it takes to make your goal come to a reality.

In choosing your mentor, don’t go for someone that whose career is different from yours ambition, a mass communication student must not choose an accountancy student as a mentor, it is usually wrong.

It is a must for you to choose a mentor, but never rush nor be fooled if you are to choose your mentor. Not every successful person is worthy to be a mentor, so choose wisely and quickly flee from a mentor that is not mentoring you aright.

After you have you must have chosen your mentor, you must be submissive to him, obey him and be humble towards him.

“Once again, for someone to be the best, he must have a good mentor.”
