The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY), Ogun State, has denied asking its students to register and make payments to obtain their Identity Cards at the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Integrated Services Company (MAPINSCO).
Speaking with the Press Club MAPOLY(PCM), the institution’s Public Relations Officer (PRO), Yemi Ajibola, emphasized that school ID cards would be provided to students free of charge, without any additional payments.
According to a reliable source, the ID card is included in the sundry payments made by every student during registration.
The conversations between PCM and the PRO became necessary when members of the club expressed concerns about being charged N2,500 for the card.
It was reported that the payment has been ongoing since last semester, initially starting with N2,100. However, last week, the fee increased to N2,500, with a promise that it would rise to N3,000 by next week.
The school confirmed that the ID card in question is not authorized by them, making it an illegal school ID card. Despite carrying the signature of the school’s Registrar, there are ongoing speculations and investigations regarding this matter.
The PRO stated that the management would reach out to MAPINSCO to investigate the issue further.
MAPINSCO was established in 1985, originally known as Poly Consult, later as MAPOLY Consult. In 2009, the company was incorporated as the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic Integrated Services Company (MAPINSCO).
