Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY Muslim Students Society of Nigeria, MSSN has hosted the Lagos State House of Assembly Chief Imam, Hon Abdulhakeem Abdulmajeed, popularly known as Hon Iyepe, as the guest lecturer for her 2024 Mega Faith Assurance Gathering, FAG.
The FAG held on Wednesday at the school mosque, replacing the original location of Motion Ground, opposite the school Library, bus shed, MAPOLY.
Having in attendance desirable number of students from different departments, the gathering saw students from; Mass Communication, Pharmaceutical Technology, Science and Laboratory Technology, Electrical Engineering among others.
Also, students from other schools attended the event.
Delivering his lecture on the theme, Discovering My Faith, and title; My Story of Connection, Contribution and Change, Hon Iyepe stressed the need to be humble.
Dwelling on the theme, he explained how human beings came from dust and would return to dust.
In his words, we came from dust, eat from dust and will return to dust, urging students to thread softly.
He stated, “you came from sand, build from sand, eat from sand, wear from sand, walk on sand and will return to sand.
“Everything taken from sand shall return to sand, this is Allah’s promise to sand during the first creation of Adam. So why not? We should be humble.”
He also added that Allah has cursed whoever is arrogant in the Quran.
In the same vein, he addressed the need to be grateful to the creator, irrespective of the situation.
However, while defining the meaning of gratefulness, he defined it as the act of being submissive and obedient to the words of Allah.
“It’s only when you know there’s only one God you won’t have to bow to another god, being ungrateful leads Shirk.
“Many worship what has not affirmed to have created them in any way, leaving the One who has said He created them alone. This has led to many being ungrateful, and remember, Allah destroyed a nation because of their ungratefulness as written in the Quran.”
He therefore urged Muslim students to be grateful to their Lord by being submissive totally to Him.
He also urged them to learn Arabic for easy understanding of the Quran, preach Islam and obey the words of Allah for better living in this world.
Please as a sister is it not good of learning Arabic?
I wish to learn Arabic but my brother said the one I know is enough for me.

Whenever they recite the only Quran I feel somehow Wallah
After that I think and I said to my self that if I want to start going to madrasah i will not let him know. Is it a sin?
Likewise my mom .
I came from Islam home but in our own house they don’t want sister to learn too much Arabic .
I want to ask that is it a sin for a sister going to madrasah?
It’s not a sin to learn, the prophet urged us to seek knowledge as a Muslim. “Tolabul I’lmi Faridotu. A’laa Kuli Muslim Wal Muslimat”. This means that “Seeking knowledge is compulsory on every Muslim(boy) and Muslimat(girl). Judging with this, you are allowed to seek knowledge.
However, remember it’s essential to listen to your parents, you might ask them the reason for that. Also, you can take online Arabic courses on WhatsApp.
As a Muslim, we are to Love Allah, Muhammad and then our parents. So you should decide.
