Staff of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, on Friday gathered to honour the institution’s Rector, Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso, as he marked one year in office.
The event, which brought together principal officers including the Deputy Rector, Dr(Mrs) Adebimpe Lanre-Iyanda, the Librarian, Alhaja Basirat Akintunde, the Public Relations Officer, Mr Yemi Ajibola, the Bursar, Mrs Folasade Madariola, Heads of Department, the Rector’s wife, Mrs Jolaoso and Heads of Units, was organised as a surprise celebration to appreciate his leadership since assuming office on December 6, 2024.
The ceremony opened with prayers led by Pastor Luke Adebola Adelaja, followed by Alhaji Najeemdeen Shodiya, the Chief Imam of MAPOLY.
In an emotional remark, the Rector expressed deep gratitude to the staff for their support throughout his first year.
“I was not planning to come to school today; I was supposed to be at the Ministry of Education. I’m not sure I truly deserve all of this. It is God’s doing,” he said.
Dr. Jolaoso, visibly moved, thanked the staff for their unity and commitment, describing them as a family that has supported him beyond official duty.
“I thank Almighty Allah who has blessed me with all of you and with good hearts. Now I can confirm that I have mothers who can cook, plan, and execute, and fathers who can humble themselves and follow the mothers,” he added.
He also praised the collective spirit of MAPOLY workers, noting that their cooperation has strengthened the institution’s growth since his assumption of office.
“From bottom to top, I belong to all of you. I am truly, superlatively humbled,” he said, fighting back emotions.
Appointed on December 4 and resuming on December 6, 2024, Arc. Dr. Jolaoso became the 10th substantive Rector of MAPOLY. His first year has been marked by administrative restructuring, staff engagement, and renewed focus on academic excellence.
The surprise celebration concluded with staff offering goodwill messages, reaffirming their commitment to supporting his vision for the polytechnic.
