MAPOLY Warns ND, HND Students Against Missing NELFUND Application

The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic has intensified efforts to ensure that students fulfill all requirements for the Federal Government’s Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme.

In a fresh directive, all HND1 students have been instructed to log into the MAPCED Portal (https://www.mapced.com.ng) and upload vital personal information on or before February 23, 2026. The required data include JAMB Registration Number, National Identification Number (NIN), and Date of Birth.

Management described the submission as mandatory, stressing that it constitutes a key requirement for verifying eligibility under the NELFUND scheme. Students who fail to comply within the stipulated timeframe risk forfeiting access to the loan opportunity.

The exercise forms part of efforts to synchronize institutional records with national verification systems ahead of the federal deadline.

For newly admitted ND1 students in the 2025/2026 academic session, eligibility is tied to specific institutional conditions.

It’s was gathered that only those who have obtained matriculation numbers can proceed to apply via the official NELFUND portal (https://portal.nelf.gov.ng/auth/register).

However, ND1 students must first pay a minimum of 60 percent of their tuition fees and complete all clearance procedures required to secure a matriculation number. Upon meeting these conditions, the institution will transmit their details to NELFUND for validation and possible approval.

Institutional data reveal that as of February 15, a total of 2,723 ND1 students were eligible to apply, though management expressed concern over the low number of completed applications.

Meanwhile, records show that by February 16, about 838 students who had neither paid their fees nor obtained matriculation numbers were already attending lectures.

Management assured that students who fulfill payment and clearance requirements remain eligible to apply and, upon approval, may receive refunds in ND2 after successful processing.

The polytechnic also clarified procedures for students who paid their fees before securing loan approval.

According to officials, NELFUND does not automatically reimburse previously paid fees.

Affected ND1 students are required to report to the NELFUND Desk located at the Big Admin Building to initiate refund processing.

Similarly, HND2 students who applied in their HND1 year and have received approval notifications but had already settled their fees are advised to visit the desk for necessary documentation. Approved refunds, it was gathered, will be paid directly into the beneficiaries’ bank accounts.

Students whose applications were rejected or remain pending have also been directed to seek immediate assistance at the NELFUND Desk and consult the designated officer known as “Alpha” to resolve issues before the deadline.

Management reiterated that all complaints, corrections, and refund procedures must be handled physically through the NELFUND Desk to guarantee prompt resolution.

While the application window for HND2 and ND2 students closed on Friday without confirmation of an extension, the institution has issued a final warning, emphasizing that no student should expect automatic payment of school fees without completing the required application and refund processes.

With only days remaining before the national deadline, management urged all affected students to act swiftly to avoid losing eligibility for the NELFUND scheme for the current academic session.
