The newly appointed rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Ogun State, Dr. Kamardeen Babatunde Jolaoso, has responded to Press Club MAPOLY’s editorial.
Recall that on December 10, PCM reported its visit to the rector’s office, tendering an editorial containing pressing issues on campus.
Two major issues highlighted were the convocation and the delay of results. PCM urged the new rector to use the editorial as a guide to understand what students would appreciate and to ease their academic journey on campus.
Responding to these, Dr. Jolaoso called a meeting with PCM, which was held at the rector’s office last week Monday.
The rector stated that efforts are being made to ensure that both the absence of convocation and delayed results become history.
In his words, the only problem with MAPOLY’s convocation is money. He said, “I was the chairman of the committee overseeing and planning the convocation event. Everything was set, and we were ready to hold it this year, but money stopped us.”
Speaking on delayed results, he said, “We have met with the tech experts behind the website, and we’ve given them a deadline to work and fix issues on the website.
“Also, sometimes our lecturers do withheld the students results, when there salaries are been delayed. we need funds to run many things, and we will appreciate investors from any angle.”

A few months ago, due to an update on the school portal, rumors spread that MAPOLY now has a hostel to accommodate students, directing students to pay if interested.
Confirming this, the school management has set the record straight for such information and development, urging students to stop paying for hostels.
The management explained that the portal was built and utilized by all tertiary institutions in Ogun State, adding that the features on it might not correlate with what “we have on campus.”
They therefore urged students to verify information before acting.

Another pressing issue among students on campus, which seems unclear, is the amount of their school fees.
As gathered from verified sources, students, both returning and freshers, will pay N135,000 as their school fees. This means returning students will pay the same amount they paid in the previous year.
Students should therefore expect nothing less than this amount this semester and also advised to go for the netfund loan provided by the federal government as it will ease their financial burden.

And my second point is this, what is the government doing about MAPOLY, we are complaining of funds its would be better if the school management pays lecturer and student would start paying school fees direct to the school instead of the government.

I don’t understand y their will be increment in sch fees for returning stds,this is a polytechnic for crying out loud,are u even aware of stds dropping out due to the 135payments nd it’s not like it end there,so many expenses ahead

Sir i know it’s hard but it’s hard for everyone else too…………everybody is managing and still yet u are increasing school fees really sir like they said earlier most of the students didn’t write exams because of thhe school fees, most of my friends drop out of school because of the school fees and now you are still doing the same you want to lose more students please sir u are appointment as our new rector please sir let your reign be comfortable and unforgettable in a good way to us sir please you will have to reduce the school fees sir please.

I am writing to express my concern and respectfully object to the current school fees for returning students, which remains at ₦135,000. As a final-year student, I understand the financial burden this imposes, particularly during these challenging economic times.
While the 60/40 payment plan is appreciated, it still poses significant difficulties for many students. Considering the country’s current economic situation, it is imperative that the institution explores alternatives to alleviate the financial strain on students.
In light of this, I humbly request that the management reconsider the school fees for returning students. A reduction in fees would greatly assist in reducing the financial burden and enable students to focus on their academic pursuits without undue stress.
