School Fees Payment: Mg’t Responds, Opens Window For ND2, HND2 Students

In a dramatic turn of events just moments before the semester’s examination was about to hold, the management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, has partially responded to the plea of the Students’ Union Government, SUG, by reopening the portal, though only for National Diploma, ND2, and Higher National Diploma, HND2, final-year students.

This comes hours after the Students’ Union, in a strongly worded statement, appealed for the portal to be reopened for all affected students, citing financial hardship, delayed result releases, and the looming threat of students being unable to sit for examinations.

Comrade Ogunlana Isaac Oluwajuwonlo, popularly known as Icecon Ray, who serves as the SUG President, had earlier urged the management to act with compassion, stating that the sudden closure of the portal was “unfair and demoralizing.”

“Our appeal is rooted in empathy and justice. Many students only just discovered they had carryovers or extra sessions due to delayed results. Others faced real financial constraints. Denying them access to the portal is like denying them access to their future,” he said.

In response, the institution’s management, on Monday morning, reopened the payment portal, albeit exclusively for final-year ND2 and HND2 student, acknowledging the urgent need to allow these students complete their registration and participate in the forthcoming examinations.

Speaking with an official who spoke anonymously, students still have few minutes to pay their school fees as the portal is being opened for 1hour.

The official therefore urged students who have not paid to urgently rush to their portals and pay their school fees for them to be eligible for the semester’s examination, adding that “once the portal is closed, it won’t be reopened for anyone again.”
