The Chief Security Officer of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Adekunle Adekoya., has reassured students of the polytechnic on standing enforcement against security officials assaulting students.
The CSO of the polytechnic disclosed that ‘security officials would be suspended if they are caught assaulting or maltreating any students’.
In an interview with Press Club MAPOLY reporters, Adekunle asserted that no offense committed by a student of the polytechnic should lead to assaulting that student.
He said, "Count my words, if any security officer is reported or found in such act, he would go on suspension. A security man has no right to slap a student. Not only a security man, it’s cut across the staffs of MAPOLY; has no right to slap a student even if the student offended.
"The appropriate thing is that such student should be reported and he or she would be dealt with at the right quarters. Even if the student is disrespectful, such student should be reported and not get to the extent of slapping the student. I would love to get to the root of the matter.
Recall that PCM published a report alleging that a security officer assaulted two students of mass communication by slapping them, claiming they are disrespectful..
The affected students disclosed this information to PCM on the ground that they were not at fault.
I think we need to follow this up to ensuring that the CSO’s words are not just done on lip assurance. The environment for learning in Mapoly is becoming increasingly uncomfortable for her students because these so called security and general staff lack understanding.
