The Managing Director, MD of Tikhors Brand, Mariam Olapade has trained members of Press Club Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY on photography and photo documentation.
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Olapade had an hour session with members of the club, taking them on the basis of photography.
Olapade, who’s also an alumni of the institution enlightened her audience on how to visually storytell their stories in journalism.
Having specialized in photography, she deals with creatively documenting people, environment and corporate organization for specific purpose.
She said, “using photograph as a main storytelling device comes with a lot of creative idea and also beneficiary to a journalist as your job will be distinctively different from ordinary photographer.”
She also stated the importance of taking communicative pictures and having emotional connection to the subject whose photograph is to be taken to get basic information as photography serves as a universal language that breaks Literacy barrier.
The members of the club were excited as they were able to gain more knowledge and also get answers to all the questions asked.
Lateef Gbadamosi, the club president concluded the meeting by showing appreciation to the invited guest and her words of impartation.
Thereafter, all member gathered to take general picture with the guest speaker.
The class was very educative , despite coming in late that day , the little I learnt was very unique which has drawn my attention to interest in photo journalism , and I’m going to develop myself more on that aspect
