Penn State University, in State College, Pennsylvania, United States, is set to join forces with Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta Ogun State, to enhance quality education and foster global learning.
On Thursday, academics, numbering five, from the university visited MAPOLY to discuss how both parties can partner to promote quality education in the polytechnic.
The academics, including Dean, College of Education, Kimberly Lawless; Associate Director, Africa Partnerships, Sylvester Osagie; Sjoerd Willem; Esther Obonyo; and Mel White, were welcomed by the polytechnic’s Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji; Deputy Rector, Dr. (Mrs.) Yetunde Lanre Iyande; Librarian, Dr. Caleb Fashanu; and others.
Welcoming the visitors, Odedeji expressed delight, stressing that the school has been looking forward to having such a development.
“There are many researchers in the polytechnic who are anticipating partnership and are open to ‘learn and collaborate effectively,'” he said.
Osagie explained that Penn State University is a land-grant, space-grant, sea-grant university with 24 campuses, including 12 two-year colleges and five standalone colleges.
“We have many opportunities, and we look forward to working together in the future,” he said.
The Rector assured the visitors that MAPOLY would effectively play its role in the partnership, saying, “I can assure you that whatever investment you make will yield dividends. We have qualified researchers who are open to learning and collaborating effectively. In the process, everybody will be a winner.”
Odedeji also appreciated the efforts of the Olowu of Owu, who facilitated the partnership, saying, “If not for him, it wouldn’t have been possible. Thank him for using his traditional ways to bring this to pass.”
As gathered, the partnership is expected to enhance the quality of education at MAPOLY and foster global learning, with both institutions set to collaborate on research and academic programs.
Other dignitaries present at the event were: the Institution’s Bursar, Mr Fatai Yekini; the Director of Students’ affairs, Dr Kolawole Amos; Dr Ahmed Apampa; Dr Taiwo Babalola; Dr Olabisi Baiyewu; among others.
