The President of the Students’ Union Government (SUG) of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Comrade Temitope Afolabi, has secured the commitment of Nigerian hip-hop star Zlatan Ibile to perform at the institution’s forthcoming SUG Week concert.
Afolabi on Thursday led a delegation to meet the artiste, the visit was facilitated alongside the General Secretary of the Ogun Joint Campus Committee of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Comrade Adelola Hezekiah Babatunde.
During the meeting, the student leaders presented an Award of Excellence to the musician in recognition of his contributions to Nigeria’s music industry and his influence among young people.
The engagement, described as cordial and lively, was aimed at strengthening the relationship between the polytechnic community and stakeholders in the entertainment industry.
Members of the SUG executive and representatives of NANS were also part of the delegation.
He further added that the initiative was designed to create opportunities for students with talents in the creative industry.
According to him, the SUG leadership remains committed to providing platforms where students with artistic abilities can showcase their skills and gain wider exposure.
“We want to showcase our talented students and ensure their gifts do not fade away without recognition.
Zlatan has assured us that during his visit for the SUG Week concert, he will take time to see and interact with some of our talented students,” he said.
Responding, Zlatan Ibile commended the student leadership for promoting youth development and supporting emerging talents on campus.
The artiste also pledged to honour the invitation by performing live during the SUG Week celebration, promising students an engaging and memorable experience.
Zlatan, whose real name is Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael, studied at Moshood Abiola Polytechnic before rising to prominence in the Nigerian music industry.
He expressed delight at reconnecting with the institution, describing the visit by the student leaders as both nostalgic and inspiring.
